MIGRANT INTEGRATION PROJECT WORKER
FULL TIME - 2 POSITIONS
South Dublin County Partnership is seeking a dynamic, creative and
motivated Migrant Integration Worker to provide a supports and
integration opportunities for migrants, refugees and international
protection applicants in South County Dublin. This role will work with
all new communities but will have a particular focus on newly arrived
international protection applicants/asylum seekers in the County.
REPORTING TO THE CEO OR NOMINEE, THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE
INTEGRATION WORKER ARE AS FOLLOWS:
* Build strong relationships with local and community service
providers, statutory and non-statutory agencies, developing and
maintaining integration opportunities, events, activities and referral
pathways for the individuals and communities you are working with.
* Work in consultation and partnership with individuals and groups
from new communities to shape programmes that effectively meet their
needs.
* Liaise with other organisations working with migrants and
advocating for migrant rights.
* Provide culturally appropriate supports, programmes,
opportunities, information and advice to new communities members of
migrant communities to promote integration and active citizenship.
* Work closely with local services and agencies to help develop and
facilitate wellbeing activities to encourage displaced individuals
connecting with others and taking part in community activities.
* Co-ordinate all activities, classes, and workshops etc. that meet
the needs of migrant communities.
* Support the Emergency Migrant Response Team to provide **Apply on
the website**-1 and individual supports to migrants, refugees and
asylum seekers, when necessary.
* Provide an advocacy, referral and introduction service for clients
to appropriate services, as required.
* Provide information and access to SDCP?s range of education,
health and wellbeing, family services and enterprise and employment
supports to eligible clients.
* Reach out to and support migrants who have not previously engaged
with SDCP services.
* Understand the barriers to integration that exist for some
migrants and apply appropriate mechanisms for over-coming these
barriers, with reference to best practice research.
* To develop and maintain, with the support of colleagues, an
accurate understanding of the relevant immigration legislation and
policies, health and welfare entitlements etc. relative to migrants,
asylum seekers and refugees.
* Carry out all administration associated with the role in a timely
and efficient manner.
* Provide regular, consistent & comprehensive reporting regarding
developments, gaps or blocks.
* Help meet the targets and goals of SDCP and collate reports for
relevant funders/senior management.
* Maintain strict confidentiality of personal information about
service users and adhere to SDCP policies and procedures.
* Participate fully and work effectively within the South Dublin
County Partnership Emergency Migrant Response Team.
* Other tasks and duties as and when required by the management.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS:
* A relevant third-level qualification including social
sciences/social care, psychology, community development or equivalent
combination of relevant education and experience;
* English Language ? Excellent written and spoken English
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
_ESSENTIAL_
* A minimum of one year experience in a similar position or in
community services/education/social care setting.
* Experience of working collaboratively and in consultation with
community groups, preferably with those from migrant, refugee or
asylum seeker backgrounds
* Experience of designing and developing supports that meet the
needs of communities.
* Workshop design, planning and delivery.
* Experience of providing individual support and outreach,
preferably to migrants/refugees/asylum seekers.
* Some understanding of immigration policies, practices and
legislation in Ireland.
* A strong interest in and knowledge of the issues facing asylum
seekers, refugees and migrants in Ireland, particularly those who are
at risk of social exclusion, poverty and discrimination.
* A commitment to a human rights-based approaches.
* Experience of report writing.
* An understanding and ability to relate to and work with people
across a variety of cultures and backgrounds
* Experience of working in partnership with a wide range of other
organisations.
_DESIRABLE_
* Experience managing a caseload and providing tailored and inclusive
supports, advocacy and advice.
* Experience in information provision and advocating for rights and
equality.
* Experience of event planning and management.
* Experience of community engagement/education on topics such as
anti-racism, allyship etc.
* Experience of online communication across various platforms and
methods including social media, Telegram, Canva, online registration
forms etc.
* Full & clear driving license & access to a car.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

LOCATION: Post requires outreach work with travel required throughout
the service delivery area of South County Dublin (Tallaght, Clondalkin
and surrounding areas).
